JICE JOHNSON

Jice Johnson is an established Businesswoman, US Army Veteran, Motivator, and Community Advocate, adept with the sense of developing and strengthening the economic base of the Black community. Currently based in Denver, Colorado, she is the founder and Chief Visionary Officer of The Black Business Initiative, - a social enterprise that is leading an Economic Revolution by creating a vibrant community of Black entrepreneurs, professionals, and leaders for individual and collective agency. An institution builder and economic developer, Jice is driven to implement system-shattering, transformational change.

Born and raised in Oakland, California,  Jice manages to channel the rich history of Black empowerment her hometown is known for.  While growing up in the Bay Area, Jice had the privilege of attending the prestigious Head Royce School before transferring and graduating from Skyline Highschool. She went on to join the U.S. Army as a Network Specialist, leaving honorably as a Sergent E-5. In 2006, Jice joined the workforce, started her family, and launched her first business while attending University in pursuit of her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  Obtaining that degree from Amridge University in 2010 she went on to seek to widen the breadth of her expertise, earning her Master of Science in Organizational Management and Leadership, graduating Cum Laude in 2012. 

For nearly a decade Jice has dedicated her time and talents to creating a prosperous Black community despite the systems built to work against them. Jice utilizes her unique upbringing, vast exposure, and her explicit background in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Leadership for the betterment of Diasporic people. Professionally, her areas of expertise are rooted in Strategic Planning and Operations, Project Management, Corporate Event Planning, Facilitation & Public Speaking, Curriculum Design, Community Engagement, and Economic Equity.

The multi-award winner has a growing collection of awards on her shelf. This includes The Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado Leadership and Legacy Award (2019), Denver Business Journal Top 40 Under 40 Award (2019), Awardee of the Denver Urban Spectrum African Americans Who Make A Difference Award (2018), Awardee of the Colorado Black Women for Political Action Emerging Leader Award (2018). Jice is sought after by both individuals and organizations for her expertise and no-nonsense approach to racial and economic equity. She has been featured in several sold-out events, Magazines, and News. Notable among them is her feature in Denver Business Journal exploring the role of business in racial equity (June 9, 2020).

Jice is a proud mother of three beautiful children. Whenever she’s off professional duties, she enjoys the beautiful outdoors and hiking every summer with her children and dog. She also loves to travel both in the US and internationally. Presently, she has been to 37 states and is making it her goal to see all fifty!
